Responsible Fatherhood

In recent decades the concept of ‘fatherhood’ has been receiving much attention with revelations that dads occupy a major role in parenting and also in ending gender-based violence. Fathers have a great say when it comes to better socialization and enculturation of children. Other than being a breadwinner, a father has to play a key part in providing a violence-free and healthy environment to children at home.

Keeping in view this factor, WEG initiated the drive for responsible fatherhood by engaging and motivating men to ensure a nonviolent atmosphere at home and get involved with their children. We make them understand that if children witness violence in their household, it can affect them psychologically and bring many issues including the adoption of same behavior in their adulthood.

During our campaign we witness that men behave differently and at least listen about the non-violent behavior when we talk about the future of their children. So, we persuaded them to end violence against women because it can lead to the success and psychological well-being of their children.

We are coaching men that they have to get involved in the lives of their children and also teach their children about importance of healthy and equality-based relationships for their better upbringing. We will be able to witness less violence in society as more men will focus on caregiving, nurturing and making efforts to bring up their kids as better human beings. It will ultimately result in less violence against women or anyone.
