Micro-Enterprise Development Programme

WEG realized that without women’s economic empowerment, the goal of gender justice and sustainable development cannot be achieved. Thus, we initiated the “Economic Empowerment Program (EEP)” the aim was to ensure the economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurship in Pakistan and acts as a catalyst for reducing the financial dependency of women.

WEG conducted a survey in which women who are already involved in business activities, planning to start their business or those whose business had failed was asked questions to analyze the problems and challenges. In light of this survey, a comprehensive Training Manual in Urdu and English was developed for a 12-day training program. Various organizations like Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA), International Labour Organization and First Women Bank used this manual for their entrepreneurship programs.

WEG conducted entrepreneurship training and development program in Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Gujranwala to uplift the unprivileged women of Pakistan. We provided this training to hundreds of women trainers too.

To further increase the interests of women entrepreneurs and provide a forum where they can discuss, debate, identify and resolve their business issues, We Launched the first Women Chamber of Commerce in 2003 which was a revolutionary step as it led thousands of women towards their economic independence. Since then six women chambers have been formed.

WEG also formed a National Committee on Women Entrepreneurship Development (NCWED) to develop a policy framework and action plan for women’s entrepreneurial development on a national level.
