Child abuse is a profound violation of a child’s fundamental rights and safety, encompassing physical, emotional, and sexual violence, as well as chronic neglect. In Pakistan, these cases are often shrouded in a “culture of silence” and social stigma, which allows perpetrators to operate with a sense of impunity and leaves victims without essential psychological and legal support. WEG addresses this crisis by advocating for the rigorous implementation of child protection laws and the strengthening of institutional response mechanisms. By shifting the burden of shame from the child to the offender, we work to transform society into a protective shield where the safety of children is prioritized above traditional or communal “honor.”

Our strategic intervention focuses on the “Three Ps”: Prevention, Protection, and Prosecution. Through our Life Skills-Based Education (LSBE) programs, we empower children to recognize boundaries and speak out against inappropriate behavior, while simultaneously training parents, teachers, and religious leaders to serve as vigilant guardians. WEG also collaborates with law enforcement and the judiciary to ensure that child abuse cases are handled with specialized, gender-sensitive protocols that prevent secondary victimization. By building a robust network of aware and sensitized stakeholders, we strive to eradicate the systemic factors that enable abuse and ensure a secure, nurturing future for every child.
